我國(guó)硬質(zhì)合金起步雖晚，但發(fā)展迅速。目前，硬質(zhì)合金模具基本上已系列化和標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化。從近幾年發(fā)展情況來看，我國(guó)硬質(zhì)合金模具的研究和設(shè)計(jì)的理論已更深入也更科學(xué)，應(yīng)用也更廣泛。

在開發(fā)新型硬質(zhì)合金材料上，前幾年以鐵鎳代鉆為熱門。如湖南省冶金材料所開發(fā)的相當(dāng)于YG、YG20、YG25的高度韌性硬質(zhì)合金，在用于冷鐓模、冷擠壓模等方面收到較好的效果。

近幾年來新的研究熱門是細(xì)晶、超細(xì)晶，甚至納米晶硬質(zhì)合金和梯度硬質(zhì)合金。梯度硬質(zhì)合金又有成分梯度、結(jié)構(gòu)梯度等，此外也有用金屬熔液滲透處理方法來生產(chǎn)梯度硬質(zhì)合金的，如梯度硬質(zhì)合金頂錘等。
